Our story

It started with a calling.

Long before The Overcome Project had a name, the mission had already begun.

A heart for vulnerable children

Two parts of a life came together.

Founder and Executive Director Stefanie Alderman developed a heart for vulnerable children at a young age.

During college, service through AmeriCorps gave Stefanie a firsthand look at the challenges facing at-risk youth and gaps in the systems intended to support them.

Years later, Stefanie and her husband built their family through both birth and adoption while also building a fitness community.

The beginning

A simple effort grew into something larger.

Through a partnership with Koinonia Family Services, they began providing free fitness classes and mentorship to young people living in local group homes.

With encouragement from Jesus Culture Sacramento, The Overcome Project was established as a nonprofit in 2020.

Today, the mission remains simple

01

Show up.

02

Build relationships.

03

Help kids discover they were made for more.

The Overcome Project

Every kid deserves someone who keeps showing up.

Movement. Mentorship. Belonging.
